Transfer funds between accounts

You can transfer funds between most balance sheet accounts in your chart of accounts (except between A/P and A/R accounts).

  1. Click Create (+) > Transfer.

    Tip: If you have many transfers to record, you may find it faster to enter them from the register instead. How do I enter from the register account history?

  2. Fill in the fields.

    Transfer Funds From

    The account where funds were withdrawn.

    Transfer Funds To

    The account where funds were deposited.

    Transfer Amount

    Amount of the transfer.

    Date

    QuickBooks automatically enters today's date. Change it to the date of the transfer.

    Memo

    Optional.

  3. (Optional) Set a recurring transfer schedule (click Make Recurring).
  4. Click Save and close (or Save and new to record another entry).

For transfers from balance sheet accounts to income and expense accounts, use Expense or Journal Entry.
