Print checks: What do the horizontal and vertical numbers mean?

These numbers are horizontal and vertical offsets that QuickBooks uses to figure out where exactly to print amounts on preprinted forms. QuickBooks starts with offsets of 0,0 which usually produce good results for the majority of forms and printers.

If you need to fine-tune the alignment, drag the grid. When you drag the grid inside the large square, you’ll notice that the horizontal and vertical offsets change, but not necessarily in a way you expect:

To tightly control the alignment, you can enter these numbers yourself. Note though that the grid doesn’t move to reflect adjustments you make. You’ll need to preview or print another sample to view the effects.

Any time you preview or print a sample, QuickBooks saves the latest round of alignment changes you made.
