Safely store a customer's credit card number
When you enter a customer's credit card number, QuickBooks stores it in encrypted form using Extended DES encryption. QuickBooks doesn't cache the credit card number or save it in any other form.
Enter a customer's credit card info
- In the navigation bar, click Customers (or Invoicing > Customers, or Sales > Customers depending on what you see).
- Click the customer name.
- If the Customer Details tab isn't selected, click it.
- Click Edit.
- Click the Payment and billing tab.
- Click the Preferred payment method drop-down arrow and select Credit Card.
- If QuickBooks doesn't have credit card info for this customer, click No credit card information.
- Enter the customer's credit card info.
- Click OK.
- In the Customer Information window, click Save.
When you select the customer's credit card in a sales transaction, QuickBooks shows only the last 4 digits on the printed sales form to keep your customers' data secure and comply with the latest security standards.
