Use SKUs

You can add a SKU when you create a new product or service. To add a SKU to an existing product or service:

1. Click the Gear icon > Products and Services.
2. Find the product or service you want to add a SKU to.
3. Click Edit.
4. In the SKU field, enter the SKU.
5. Click Save and close.

To take advantage of the many benefits of SKUs, add the SKU column to your sales forms.

1. Click the Gear icon > Company Settings.

2. Click Sales.
3. Click the edit icon next to Products and services.
4. Select Show SKU column.
5. Click Save.
6. Click Done.

You can also add the SKUscolumn to your sales forms directly from an invoice by clicking the Gear icon at the top of the invoice.

If you want your customers to see SKUs on printed invoices, estimates, and sales receipts, continue with the following steps.

7. Click the Gear icon > Custom Form Styles.

8. In the Action column of the style you want to use, click Edit.

9. On the Styles tab, select Airy if it isn't already selected.

You can only print SKUs on sales forms that use the Airy style.

10. Click the Activity Table tab.
11. In the Columns section, select SKU.
12. (Optional) Change the SKU label if necessary.
13. (Optional) In the Width% column, click the plus or minus buttons to increase or decrease the column width.
14. (Optional) Enter a new value in the Order field to place the SKU column where you want it on the form.
15. Click Save.

Quickly find products and services by filtering or searching the Products and Services list by SKU.

1. Click the Gear icon > Products and Services.

2. In the search field, enter the SKU you want to find. QuickBooks automatically filters the list as you type.

You can create sales forms faster by searching and filtering products and services by SKU.

1. Add the SKU column to your sales forms, if you haven't done so already. See the instructions above to learn how.
2. Click Create (+) and select a sales form, such as an invoice.
3. When you're ready to add products and services to your sales form, click the first line item.
4. In the Product/Service column, begin entering the SKU of the product or service you want to add. QuickBooks filters the list as you type.
5. When you see the item you want, click it.
6. Add more info to complete the form.
7. Print or save your form as needed.

1. In the navigation bar, click Reports.

2. Run a report specific to products and services, such as the Product/Service List report.
3. Click Customize.
4. Click Change Columns.
5. In the Available Columns list, click SKU.
6. Click Add.
7. (Optional) Use the Change Order buttons to place the SKU column where you want it on the report.
8. Click OK.
9. Click Run Report.

Will you need to run this report again in the future? There's no need to re-create it. Just memorize it now.
