Set up time tracking

With time tracking, you can easily track time and bill customers for that time.

Employees or subcontractors fill in timesheets in QuickBooks. Based on rates you set up, billable time appears on the next invoice or statement you send to the customer.

Before you start using time tracking:

  1. Decide who fills out timesheets. You can have:
  2. Decide if you want to use services for time charges.
  3. Decide whether to bill customers for time. If you do bill for time, decide how to structure your hourly rates. You can have:

  4. Decide whether to show time activity details to customers.

After that, users fill in timesheets (how?), you can report on time activities, and billed time automatically flows to customer invoices.
