Original cost for assets

Keep these points in mind while entering the original cost for an asset:

• If you are creating this account while entering a transaction (for example, by adding the account when creating a check), leave the amount empty. The transaction you are entering gives the account an initial amount.
• Enter the original cost of this asset on the day you purchased it. If you've made improvements to the asset since you bought it, add the cost of improvements to the original cost, and enter the total in Original cost.
