Make a product, service, or bundle inactive

If you no longer sell a particular product, service, or bundle you can make it inactive. When you do this, QuickBooks removes it from the Products and Services list, reporting options, and other places where QuickBooks lists these items. Inactive items appear with "(deleted)" next to the name in transactions that used them.

To make a product, service, or bundle inactive:

  1. Click the Gear icon > Products and Services.
  2. Find the product, service, or bundle you want to make inactive.
  3. Click the drop-down arrow at the end of the row and select Make inactive.
  4. In the confirmation window, click Yes.

When you make a product, service, or bundle inactive, QuickBooks hides it in the Products and Services list, but you can easily show or even reactivate them.

To show inactive items in the list:

  1. In the Products and Services list, click the filter drop-down arrow.
  2. Click the Status drop-down arrow.
  3. To see both active and inactive products, services, and bundles, select All. To see only inactive items, select Inactive.
  4. Click Apply. Inactive items appear in the list with "(deleted)" next to the name.

To make an inactive items active again:

  1. Click the Gear icon > Products and Services.
  2. Filter the Products and Services list to show inactive items (as described above).
  3. Find the product, service, or bundle you want to make active.
  4. At the end of the row, click Make active.
