Change what you call customers

You can change how QuickBooks refers to your customers (the people who give you money). For example, you might call customers "clients" or "guests" and would prefer that QuickBooks do so too.

You can choose from a list of the most common customer labels.

  1. Click the Gear icon > Company Settings (or Account and Settings depending on what you see).

  2. Select Advanced.
  3. Find the Customer label section at the bottom and click the edit icon to the right.
  4. Select a different term.
  5. Click Save.

Some labels in QuickBooks won't change until the next time you sign in.

If you change the customer label to another term, QuickBooks will change its interface to match your term. These help topics will continue to refer to "customers."
