Void a credit card payment you accepted

QuickBooks Payments is available at an additional cost. Learn more and apply.

You can void a credit card transaction until 3 pm PT on the day you process a payment. After that time, if you need to reverse a credit card payment refund the customer instead.

There are no transaction fees for a void.

What are the fees for a QuickBooks Payments account?

To void a payment (before 3 pm PT)

There are two ways to void. You can:

• Void the credit card payment and the QuickBooks transaction that contains it.
• Void just the credit card payment, but preserve the transaction in your QuickBooks books for reuse with a different payment method.

To void the payment and the transaction:

1. Find the sales receipt, received payment, or invoice that contains the credit card payment you want to void.
2. At the bottom of the form, click More > Void.
3. In response to the confirmation message, click Yes.

To void only the credit card payment:

1. Find the sales receipt, received payment, or invoice that contains the credit card payment you want to void.
2. Click Transaction has been processed underneath Payment method.
3. In the Credit Card Transaction Status window, click Void Payment.
4. Back in the sales receipt screen, change the payment method information and then click Save and close.
