You can track three different types of products and services in QuickBooks:
Products you buy, sell, or both and that you track quantities of. Examples include t-shirts, bags of dog food, and bottles of wine at a restaurant.
Inventory tracking is available only in QuickBooks Plus.
Products you buy, sell, or both but don’t need to track quantities of. Examples include nuts and bolts used in installations, sacks of flour used for making cakes at a bakery, and lettuce used in salads at a restaurant.
Services that you provide to customers. Examples include landscaping work, tax preparation services, and the hours a contractor charges you for work done for one of your customers.
