Swipe credit cards

If you have a USB card reader, you can swipe a credit card to process a payment in QuickBooks with QuickBooks Payments.

To swipe a credit card:

1. Plug the card reader into your computer.
2. Click Create (+) > Receive Payment or Create (+) > Sales Receipt.
• Use Receive Payment if you're getting paid for an invoice you gave to a customer.
• Use Sales Receipt if your customer pays you at the time of sale.
3. Choose the appropriate credit card type in Payment method.
   • If you saved your customer's credit card, click the button that shows the credit card information.
   • If you haven't saved your customer's credit card, click the Enter credit card details button.
4. Click Swipe Card.
5. Swipe the card through the reader, as shown in the picture onscreen.
6. Select Process credit card .
7. Click Save and close to save the transaction and process the payment.
